Team Spotlight: Meet Nellie Washington, Sales Development Representative (APAC) at Stackla
In this team spotlight, get to know Nellie Washington, Sales Development Representative in APAC at Stackla. She details the one place she’d love to live for a year, shares some recent good reads, and reveals what sport she would play if she were in the Olympics.
Q: What are you most looking forward to as Stackla joins Nosto?
Nellie: I’m eager to help build and grow an innovative business alongside talented and like-minded people. I love to be part of the start-up journey and see the impact my work can have on a business, and I’m excited to continue that journey at Nosto. I also look forward to seeing the team grow and meet and work with wonderful people from all over the world, hopefully in person one of these days.
Q: You’re going sailing around the world, what’s the name of your boat and what are your top destinations?
Nellie: I spent 5 years living and working on boats so this question is right up my alley. I actually worked on a boat called BIG FISH and always thought that was the greatest name for a boat. Top destinations that I would love to visit (that I haven’t already) would be Maldives, Seychelles, Galapagos Islands, Raja Ampat in Indonesia, Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, and the Norwegian Fjords.
Q: What sport would you compete in if you were in the Olympics?
Nellie: Probably swimming. I was a competitive swimmer in my teenage years and loved it. It’s also my favorite sport to spectate at the Olympics, probably because our Aussie swimmers are such a talented team. I am a water baby and love everything about being in the water whether it’s the pool or (preferably) the ocean!
Q: What book or movie have you read or seen recently that you would recommend and why?
Nellie: I read A LOT of (mostly fiction) books—so feel free to hit me up for recommendations! One of the best books I read this year was a Japanese translation: Lonely Castle in the Mirror. I thought it was a really timely story that touched on mental and emotional wellbeing, with a magical, fantastical twist. For non-fiction, I also really enjoyed Empire of Pain, which looked into the history of the Sackler Family Dynasty and their role in the opioid epidemic.
Q: If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
Nellie: I’ve spent seven of the last eight years of my life living abroad, mostly on a boat, then two years in the US. However, the one city I have always dreamed of spending a year living in is Paris. I still have hopes that this dream will come true. Baguettes, cheese, and wine all day every day in this beautiful city.
